Head teachers want to know three things: what and whom you teach, whether your students do well, and what you add beyond the classroom. Your CV should answer all three on the first page.

International and premium private schools also look for curriculum experience (British, American or IB) and child safeguarding training.

Tips for a stronger teacher CV

  1. 1

    Results beat duties

Every teacher plans lessons. Few can show pass rates that went up. Use your school's results if you have them.

  2. 2

    Show what else you run

Clubs, sports, exam coordination and staff training show you will add to the school.

Questions people ask

Is TRCN registration required?

It's required to teach legally in Nigeria, and many schools now ask for it. If yours is in progress, say so.

Can I teach without an education degree?

Yes. Many teachers have subject degrees plus a PGDE or teaching experience. Show the teaching experience clearly.
