HR officer CV example

By the JobberNest team · Reviewed 3 November 2026

HR managers can spot a weak HR CV quickly, because they write job descriptions for a living. They look past duties ("responsible for recruitment") to outcomes: roles filled, time to hire, staff turnover, payroll accuracy.

In Nigeria, show you know the local basics, such as PAYE, pension (PFA) remittances, NHF and NSITF, and the Labour Act, alongside general HR work.

Tips for a stronger hr officer CV

  1. 1

    Measure what HR changes

Time to hire, turnover, training completion, payroll errors: pick two or three you can back up.

  2. 2

    Respect confidentiality on paper

Describe disciplinary or grievance work in general terms. Never name staff or quote cases.

  3. 3

    Show your membership stage

CIPM student, associate or full member: write it in the headline if you have it.

Questions people ask

Do I need CIPM to work in HR in Nigeria?

Many employers ask for it, and it helps with promotion. You can apply for entry-level roles while studying for it.

Which degree is best for HR?

Psychology, sociology, business and industrial relations are common, but employers care more about HR experience and CIPM progress.
