Nurse CV example

By the JobberNest team · Reviewed 3 November 2026

A nursing CV has to answer one question fast: are you licensed, and for what? Put your registration (RN, RM, or both) and your Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria licence status at the top, then show the wards and patient groups you know.

If you are applying abroad, the same CV works with two changes: add your English test result and any overseas registration in progress (for example, the NMC in the UK), and drop personal details such as age, religion and state of origin.

Tips for a stronger nurse CV

  1. 1

    State your licence first

Write "RN, RM, NMCN licence current" in the headline or the first line. A recruiter who can't see it quickly may move on.

  2. 2

    Be specific about the setting

"Nurse at a hospital" is weak. "Medical ward, 30 beds, teaching hospital" tells the reader exactly what you can handle.

  3. 3

    Never share patient details

Describe the type of patient and the care, never names or anything that identifies a person.

  4. 4

    For abroad, remove personal details

UK, US and Canadian employers don't want age, marital status, religion or state of origin, and some must ignore CVs that include them.

Questions people ask

Should I include my licence number?

You can give it if the advert asks. Otherwise, "NMCN licence current" is enough; employers verify it at offer stage.

How long should a nursing CV be?

Two pages for most nurses. Newly qualified nurses can fit on one.

Do I list every clinical rotation?

Only as a newly qualified nurse. After a year or two, list the wards you worked on as staff.
